Why you need to change your semi truck oil

Maintain Peak Performance For Your Rig

The most important thing you can do to keep your semi truck’s engine running smoothly is to make sure you change your oil regularly. That means scheduling an oil change every 25,000 miles on average* to get the best:

Engine Performance

Clean oil lubricates the engine components, reducing friction and heat buildup, which in turn ensures smoother operation and prevents excessive wear and tear. This improves the overall efficiency and lifespan of the engine.

Heat Dissipation

Clean, fresh oil helps in dissipating heat by carrying it away from the engine components. As oil ages and breaks down, it becomes less effective at heat dissipation, potentially leading to overheating issues and engine damage. Routine oil changes ensure the oil’s cooling properties remain intact.

Engine Protection

Oil plays a vital role in protecting the engine by forming a thin film between moving parts, preventing metal-to-metal contact. It also helps to minimize the accumulation of harmful deposits, such as dirt, sludge, and by-products.

Fuel Efficiency

A well-lubricated engine operates more efficiently, translating to improved fuel economy. By reducing friction and promoting smoother engine performance, regular oil changes contribute to better fuel efficiency and overall performance.

Preventive Maintenance

During a premium oil change on your tractor, Iron Maintenance technicians will do a 12-point inspection that can identify and correct issues that may potentially develop into extensive damage down the road.

*The frequency of oil changes for semi trucks can vary depending on several factors, including the specific engine type, the manufacturer’s recommendations, and the operating conditions of the truck. Generally, it is advisable to follow the guidelines provided by the truck manufacturer and consult the owner’s manual to determine the most appropriate oil change interval for your semi truck.

What our customers are saying:

I’ve been trying to schedule an oil change and brake job with TA, Speedco, and Rush for weeks. It’s either no appointments because we are first come, first serve, or they have a 6 hour backlog. I received an email from Iron Maintenance back in November and stored them in my phone. I’m so happy I did. I made an appointment Monday at 7am to arrive at 10am. Both Lee (the site manager) and Russell (the mechanic) were great, very communicative about the work being performed and the repairs that were needed. I’m keeping them close and telling everyone about them. Hidden Gem that needs to shine bright

I spoke with Thomas at Iron, and he was able to get an International in with two bad engine oil leaks. They got to it quickly, diagnosed the problem, and called me with an estimate. They completed the work a day earlier than expected, and they did it for a price that was more than fair. The work was done right, the price was right, it was quick, and the people were very nice and knowledgeable. What else could you ask for?

Fast honest work, and they will go through your truck with a fine tooth comb during inspection, and make sure you are fixed up correctly. Knowing your truck is in good hands is a relief. Timely service along with great technicians doing the work. You can be done and gone before anywhere else would even be able to get you in the bay door.

Took my truck in for an oil change and lube. Great price and very thorough and professional. Also, I took a new trailer in for a federal DOT inspection. They found one issue, isolated the problem, and repaired it in a timely manner. They communicate well and I STRONGLY recommend them for your maintenance needs. Will DEFINITELY be a return customer.
